I would like to thank Jenny and the Dutch Obedience Society for inviting me along to their wonderful Championship event. This is my second time being able invited to their championship event and it was run to the same precision and standard. As you enter the hall the committee have decorated and presented the trophy display table to a beautifully presented standard. Its real sight to the effort of how committed this society and its competitors are to their obedience shows. Jenny and I had fairly easy journey meeting out from Heathrow and Bristol and finding each other in Schiphol Airport. The venue was in the same location, so thankfully I knew how to navigate the very efficient Dutch rail network from Schiphol to ‘Middelburg’ where we stayed in a lovely hotel and the event was held 15 mins down the road. We had the most fabulous time, and we were looked after incredibly well. Thank you again, it truly was a spectacular event. Thank you for the lovely, personalised gifts, especially the beautiful craftsmanship by Karin Spanhaak, who made a beautiful leather collar for Olive, all if the gifts will be lovely memento to remember this event. You really do look after your judging parties so well. Karin, your work and your items are excellent, such a great supply of dog toys and harnesses, which was a real treat to buy. Thank you. My individual thanks go to Monique van Urk for the regular Facebook communications. It’s always a pleasure to speak with Monique and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Further thanks go to Monique for being our practice handler when Jenny and I arrived at their fabulous venue and walking the rounds for us and giving us extra things to think about so we could support handlers.
Our thanks to Rineke Smith for their chauffeur duties picking Jenny and I up from the hotel. Thanks to Ivonne being our secret messenger on keeping the most promising award dogs quiet and secret!
To Natalie Knaack-Enkelmann, thank you for decoying in my B Class. Thankfully none of the dogs found your scent tempting. Thank you for being great company during the day.
To Jutta Van Damme, Marian De Jong and Sandra Pierson for their scoreboard stewarding duties. You managed to understand my scribbles, my decimals and kept the flow of the competitors running like clockwork Thank you to Paul and Barjo for completing the prize cards and giving us the full results booklets you put together with running orders, scores, and handlers’ names. Fantastic work went into this and you all worked like a dream team.
My pre-beginner and novice steward, Tim Enkelmann. You were superb company and faultless stewarding. It’s always such a pleasure to see you and you were tremendous support when we’re deciding the start the exercises. You encouraged the handlers beautifully. Thank you so much for picking up the rounds on the day.
Finally, I want to give my thanks to Jenny Gould for being such great company over the three days. It was a very enjoyable trip, with lots of laughs, time spent in the bar and it was great to do this event together. Jenny has been a true support to obedience and for me training with him over the years and has become a great friend through our love of dogs and our love of beer, as well as having one of Jenny’s fabulous German Shepherd Puppies of my own! Thank you to Jenny for stewarding my B class, word perfect and again great support in putting my round together.

1st Danitsja Bosua & Spot (Border Colllie)
A beautifully trained collie and wonderfully handled by Danitsja who set the standard for the class by working first and gave very little to mark on this test. A wonderful keen dog with a level of style that flowed throughout the heelwork and showed how capable this team are at progressing through the classes. Keep the keenness and enthusiasm that you displayed today, and you will shine through obedience. Congratulations on your Pre-Beginner win.

2nd Danitsja Bosua & Mack (Border Collie)
A superb little dog who gave their all in their heelwork. Their heelwork with fairly minimal marks lost between, but just some inconsistencies in position but very keen to work. A slightly untidy present and finish but overall a good performance displayed.

3rd Lilane de Jong & Mando (Border Collie) and Most Promising Award given
This team team worked incredibly well and handled beautifully. A untidy part on their recall but with crooked position, wide to finish and sat crooked but very keen to come when called. Most marks lost in the heelwork, with heel free adding to the marks. Heel on lead was much tidier with a nicer position. A slightly closer position for their will see this team progress. Well done.

4th Joyce Piek and Bo (Border Collie)
Well done today. Really great work with Joyce and Bo. Heelwork adding up to the total marks and anticipation in the recall added to the total score, but equally a great partnership with this team. Well done.

1st Nele Weber & Rocarzja Urvi (German Shepherd)
Wow, is all I can say. The highlight of the show was seeing Nele and her beautiful shepherd in partnership. Heelwork was of superb quality, with complete drive and accuracy, this team showcased everything I love in a dogs work ethic. Their retrieve and recall lost only minimal marks. A very clear and worthy winner. Congratulations.
2nd Angela Kroon & Darkbeck Crowned Eagle (Border Collie) and Most Promising Award given
Another team, also very deserving of first place today, but was unfortunate to meet the above, but for Catchy’s first ever performance in the ring, you should be super proud of him. Again, beautiful heelwork and first-class handling from Angela. Lovely fast, and confident retrieve and recall helped today. His heelwork was stunning, with a beautiful movement. Well done with your boy, he was stunning. I always awarded this team the most promising, but all were ever so deserving in this class. Well done!

3rd Monique van Urk & Darkbeck Kite (Border Collie)
Litter Brother to the above and again, put in an excellent performance and won’t be in Novice very long. Lovely heelwork displayed by Kite, which is always something I’ve loved about Monique’s training and handling. Calm and composed together which allowed this team to shine! Retrieve and recall were also very good, just some of the baby thing totting up the score, but still an excellent performance today. Well done.

4th Rineke Smit & Pia Maria van Bergentheim (Working Sheepdog)
Another good performance today, but heelwork being the main loss of marks. A lovely keen dog, but some of the inaccuracies coming from his wonderful keenness just added up. Certainly a level of maturity from this dog will seem them blossom as a team. A lovely retrieve and recall helped their placing today. Well done.

5th Jamie Kite & Summer (Golden Retriever)
It was lovely to see Jamie still in the sport, a young handler with the greatest love towards his dogs. Well done today Jamie. I know it took a bit of time to get Summer happy in the ring, but once you started to work it, she pulled it together brilliant. Main loss of marks were the dogs position in heelwork. She held a lovely upright position and lovely movement, but was coming off the leg at times. Another good retirieve and recall by this team. Well done today.

6th Jennifer Runge & Leeloo Dallas (Australian Shepherd - Labrador – Mix)
A lovely team who worked very early in the class but still put on a credible performance amongst a very strong class. Main loss of marks was heelwork where Leeloo lost position coming off the leg and slightly messy presents added to the score. Overall, though, a still strong performance form this team who could definitely achieve the red one. Well done.

1st Nelleke Slingerland & Salsa (Australian Shepherd)
The clear winner today with the best sendaway on the scores. Just slightly out of position and pick-up being just minor added to their score, but only team to complete it. A very good team who had a lovely heelwork position and nice movement and just bit of an untidy retrieve. A very good scent and wonderful celebration afterwards by this team. Congratulations on your win today!

2nd Yvon Provoost & Caya Hoya's Dream Big or go Home (Portuguese water dog)
Scores started to add up in heelwork for this team, and did the sendaway but just a bit more untidy with the above team on the run out. Retrieve took a good chunk of the marks with a drop but still a good performance. Well done.

3rd Jacqueline van Vlimmeren & Ronya-Kiki v. Rooverehof (Tervuerense Shepherd) and Most Promising Award given
Heelwork by far the best score of all the dogs today, which was a dream to watch, but sadly the sets took a huge chunk of marks from this team. Nice tidy scent helped their placing today. Well done!

4th Esther Hadders & Jaslin Lee Kelpiebrink (Australian Kelpie)
Again, not doing the sendaway but had a very good retrieve. Heelwork scores added up for this team but a nice scent at the end. Well done.

5th Melissa Vercauter & Unique (Tervueren Shepherd)
A good number of the marks in heelwork was taken by body signals and extra commands. Again, another team who struggled with the sendaway but a good retrieve and tidy scent helped them. Well done.

6th Lianne v.d. Linde & Ruby (Golden Retriever)
A better sendaway than most and a good understanding of their heelwork position helped this team but sadly had difficulties in scent, which make or break the placings for people. Still, a very good round, well done.
